Panda Shop and Base Site Work San Diego Zoo

Project Description

The scope of work for this Design-Build project began with demolishing the existing shop and associated flatwork.  The 1,465 sq. ft. shop is a pre-fabricated metal structure with an open floor plan concept, metal stud in filled walls, exposed ceilings, custom corrugated metal siding and metal roof.  The center of the shop includes a raised center atrium section, Asian themed specialty wood work is used throughout and high end light fixtures.  

The site was completely transformed with custom salt rock finished concrete, new seating area with tables, chairs and umbrellas, new cast in place concrete planters and site walls.  The entire construction effort was performed with the utmost consideration for the Giant Pandas’ that reside in the exhibit adjacent to where the new shop was built.  Soltek erected a custom 14 ft. high sound divider wall to mitigate construction noise levels.
